This is the equipment and space I work in.  My bench cost about £50 and the dumbbells about £25.  A mirror is useful to check form.  You could use a swiss ball, but beware of using heavy weights on swiss balls: they are by their nature unstable.

So how can you be sure your weight-lifting sessions count? Ideally, you should choose a load that completely maxes your muscles out after eight to 12 repetitions — meaning you wouldn't be able to lift it again. Or, put another way, aim for a load that is about 60 percent of the maximum amount you can hoist in one lift.
